How to use GVAR_THC0_ARC_VOLTAGE_ADJ with potentiometer?

Post by dan721 »

Hello.
I want to be able to adjust THC reference voltage with a potentiomerer in my plasma table (ET7). I've read here http://docs.pv-automation.com/thc/thc that it's possible with GVAR_THC0_ARC_VOLTAGE_ADJ, but how to get it work?

Using a potentiometer was a method that we have tried to implement previously. Unfortunately, we have ran into some issues, namely the susceptibility to electrical noise and the difficulty of adjusting the voltages precisely.

We recommend using a rotary encoder, similar to the one described in the following manual: http://docs.pv-automation.com/mycnc/rot ... _and_setup

Thanks, works fine with a rotary encoder. A potentiometer has its advantage of constant level of correction at given angular position, so you can put a scale like (- 0 +) on the control panel. On the other side, with a rotaty encoder you have an unlimited range of voltage correction.

Glad to hear that the rotary encoder solution is working for you.
